15 Bean Soup

Published by mikeandliz2006 at 1:14 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

ok…so last night we had 15 bean soup for dinner (by we I mean me and My husband)…and a pan of cornbread…yummy. so I didn’t actually have the recipe off the bag for the 15 bean soup because, I being the smart person I am threw it away a month ago when I put the beans in a glass jar on my kitchen counter because they looked pretty. So I improvised. Which is what usually happens in my cooking anyway. The 15 bean soup had been cooked the day before in the crockpot with the turkey thing from the previous post. So Yesterday about 3:30 or 4pm I put the beans back in the Crock pot and added 2 cans of italian style stewed tomatoes. It turned out delicious but I know there is more to the recipie than stewed tomatoes and 15 types of beans.

Now the corn bread…That’s so easy. I always buy Jiffy cornbread mixes. they are like $.48 each and are great. Plus I add about 1/4 or less cup of sugar to the mix and then follow the directions for the corn muffins on the box, except of course I don’t make muffins I put it in my bigger ROUND corningware dish. My husband loves my cornbread because it’s sweet…and I love my cornbread too which is wierd because I didn’t really like corn bread growing up…maybe my mom didn’t put enough sugar in it! Okay so I have a question for everyone. My mom always made cornbread in a round pan…I’ve heard alot of people say it should be square…my grandma gave my mom a few years ago what they refer to as the cornbread skillet (cast iron skillet)….SO what do you cook cornbread in and is it round or square?????

Well tonight I believe we are having French Bread Pizza (for 2)…Check back tomorrow to see how that goes.

Sounds delicious! Cornbread is actually extremely easy to make from scratch, believe it or not. Takes me about 20 minutes. The recipe is right on the side of the corn meal box!
